Definitions:
Library Media Specialist
Persons with the title of Library Media Specialist do paid work
that usually requires professional training and skill in the theoretical or
scientific aspects of library work, or both, as distinct from its mechanical or clerical aspect. Staff members are
considered library media specialists if they do professional library work
such as supervising the library, identifying
materials for and planning instructional units with teachers, providing information skills instruction to students,
selecting and cataloging library materials, and meeting and coordinating with
teachers and administrators.
Endorsement
Endorsement is the Iowa term for certification.
Typical Week
A "typical week" is a time that is neither unusually busy or unusually
slow. Avoid holiday times, vacation times for key staff, or days
when unusual events are taking place in the community or in the library.
Choose a week in which the library
is open its regular hours. Include five consecutive calendar days.
Full time equivalent and contract
Do not record FTE. If a person works 35 hours and is considered full-time, enter 35 hours in Column B
