- Tell me anecdotes - touch my heartstrings
- Let us know why you're important, what you're doing for your community
- Give us a compelling vision for how you make a difference
- Tell us your operating budget and describe what you do with the small amount of money you have
- Credibility is essential - double check your figures for accuracy; do what you say you're going to do; don't exaggerate or make empty threats (such as threatening to reduce library hours and then not doing it). Once credibility is gone, it's gone.
- Let us hear from members of the community, not just library employees and board members
- Help us identify other funding sources
