Thanking the Public Library for the Help It Has Been to Me
Letter to the Editor:
I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Estherville Public Library for the help it has been to me. I enjoy the e-mail service to send messages to family and friends.
For some time I have been searching for a book. It depicts life in the early settling of South Dakota. My interest in it was personal. Mother and her brother drove a covered wagon from southwestern
Nebraska to Tripp County, South Dakota when the government was offering land to anyone who would homestead, living alone on the land for 14 months. She lived on her claim in a sod house, part of
the time without a roof. The kind ladies at the library found the book I'd been looking for at another library in Iowa. I wish to thank them and also the city of Estherville for this great
service.
