Iowa Library Services and Summer Reading Programs

Iowa Library Services believes strongly in the importance of a Summer Library Program and, with the public libraries around the State, promotes a vigorous Summer Library program.

As a member of the national Collaborative Summer Library Program, each year Iowa Library Services provides a summer library program for public libraries.  Each library receives free children's and teen program manuals for the current theme, invitations to free summer workshops and a chance to order materials at a group rate.

The 2014 Summer Library Program slogans are:

  • Children: Fizz! Boom! Read!
  • Teen: Spark a Reaction
  • Adult: Literary Elements

Our Summer Library Program presenters, Anna Hartmann and Sara Day have created a wonderful website at http://fizzboomread.weebly.com/ as well as a Pinterest page at http://www.pinterest.com/small_fox/srp-2014-fizz-boom-read/.

The die cut bulletin boards (and new dies!) for 2014 are posted HERE!

The 2015 Summer Library Program themes is "Heroes" and the slogans will be:

  • Children: Every Hero Has a Story
  • Teen: Unmask!
  • Adult: Escape the Ordinary

The Summer Library Program is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by Iowa Library Services.
