"I am a retired kindergarten teacher," said Naomi D. of Indianola. "When in the classroom, I used the public library as a valuable source for enhancing our readiness program for children. The librarian came about four times a year to do thematic stories or just stories for enjoyment. "I also worked part-time at a public library in Fairfield, Iowa as a community outreach person serving the pre-schools and daycare centers as "The Story Lady." This program was to help motivate children to develop a love of reading and expose them to a variety of reading experiences. "I am a reader and use the library on a regular basis. It is not just a source of securing reading materials, using technology and such. The programming provides a foundation which a community can build around."
