Kids First 2003
The 2003 Kids First Conference was held April 24 and 25, 2003 at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel on Merle Hay Road (Des Moines, IA).
Thursday's keynote speaker was Claudia Quigg of Baby TALK, a non-profit organization which provides assistance to parents of young children through three main processes: (1) providing information to parents, (2) developing early childhood parenting education programs, and (3) offering national workshops on how to develop early childhood programs in other communities.
Walter Minkel of School Library Journal spoke April 25 at the luncheon on "Looking Into the Magic 8-Ball." What can we expect to happen in youth librarianship over the next ten years? Will kids and families abandon library buildings and get all their reading needs from home computers? Will e-books finally succeed? What will story time and book talks look like in 2013? Walter Minkel has published two books entitled, Delivering Web Services to Young People and How to do the Three Bears with Two Hands; Performing with Puppets. Mr. Minkel was the luncheon speaker on April 25.
