Overview of history and purpose of LSTA funds discussed.
State Librarian Mary Wegner and Library Development Program Director Sandy Dixon attended the 2007 State Programs Conference in Washington DC, Oct 31 - November 2. The conference was organized by the Institute of Museum and Library Services for state library staff who work with federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funding. Programs included an overview of the history and purpose of the LSTA State Program, information about managing LSTA funds, and presentations about selected state programs.
In Iowa, LSTA funds are used primarily to support statewide library development initiatives and services such as the summer library programs, statewide access to EbscoHost and FirstSearch online databases, the statewide union catalog (the Locator) and the SILO interlibrary loan program.
