Highlights of Iowa Commission of Libraries Meeting

The Iowa Commission of Libraries, the governing board for the State Library, met April 12 in Des Moines. 

• Commissioners were given a “tour” of the new State Library Web site, including pages that contain information about the Commission. 

•  Bonnie McKewon, administrator for the Northwest Library Service Area, reported on the roles of the library service areas and the unique things each do to benefit each other and the libraries in their areas.

• The Commission appointed Valerie Haverhals, director of the Hawarden Public Library, to fill an expired term on the Northwest Library Service Area board.

• There was discussion about the Enrich Iowa program, which included reimbursement levels for the Access Plus program and requirements for participation in Open Access.  Staff will develop proposals for the next Commission meeting in June.
