Check Out New Iowa Center for the Book Web Site

The Iowa Center for the Book has a new Web site that is quicker and easier to use.

There have been some changes.  The literary calendar now has two parts: a list of institutions that have ongoing book discussion groups and a listing of literary events.  The ICB Web site will link to your Web site for information about these kinds of programming.

The form for entering literary events is short and can be found on the main page at the bottom of “News & Literary Events”.  It asks for: 1.  The title of the event. 2.  A description of the event including the name of your institution. 3.  The date of the event. 4.  The URL that will take people to information on your Web site about the event. 5.  Is this an All Iowa Reads event? Please add your discussion of the All Iowa Reads selection as an individual event even if it is part of your regular book discussion series.  We would like these discussions to be highlighted on the ICB Web site.

To enter an ongoing book discussion group you will answer three questions.
1.    The name of your institution.
2.    The URL that will take people to that part of your Web site for information about your discussion group.
3.    A short description of your discussion group including whether the group meets 12 months a year or takes a break, which day of the month you usually meet, and the time of the day.

The ICB has developed a new Iowa Author list on the Web site.  The Iowa Author List includes authors of books who are presently living and writing in Iowa. The purpose is twofold:
•  For readers – a source of information about Iowa authors and what they have written.
•  For libraries, schools, and other organizations - information about Iowa authors who are interested in accepting speaking engagements. Look at this part of the Web site and if you know an Iowa author please encourage them to add themselves to this list.  We appreciate any help you can give us in building this list.
