Karen Randleman Begins Job as Youth Services Consultant
Randleman brings a wealth of information and experience to the position.
Karen Randleman began her new job as the State Library's Youth Services Consultant on January 14, 2008.
Previously, Karen worked for the Des Moines Public Library as a Youth Specialist Librarian at the South Side Library, although she served in that position in four of the six library branches in the Des Moines system.
She planned summer reading programs, selected children's and teen books, and worked on the reference desk. She also scheduled and trained over 50 teen volunteers every summer who helped with the summer reading program. In addition, Karen instructed adults, teens and children in how to use library resources, and trained staff in youth services.
Karen was born in Marshalltown, IA and has a master's degree in Library Science from Ball State University in Indiana.
