How to Move Content Items From One Folder to Another
Sometimes it is necessary for the organization of the Web site to move content items, such as pages, links and files, to another folder in another place on the site.
- Log in an an author
- Navigate to the content you would like to move
- Click on the Contents tab
- Select all items in the list by either clicking the checkbox beside each item individually, or clicking in the Select All Items checkbox in the blue title row.

Click the Cut button (the items do not disappear)

Navigate to the folder you would like to move your content to
- Click on the Contents Tab
- Click on the Paste Tab
- Note: These items are in the "published" state and will instantly appear on your Web site. If you don't want this Tab or these items to appear, either move the links back to the Do Research - Subject Guides - Teen Links and delete the Teens Tab, OR check the Exclude from Navigation property on the Teens folder.
Note: Items can also be copied to another location by clicking the Copy button
Additional Information
When you copy and paste content, the paste button creates new content, so the pasted content will always be in the private state. The pasted content will appear at the bottom of the list on the contents tab. If you copy content and paste it in the same folder, the pasted content will have a short name of "copy_of_original-file-name". The title will be exactly the same as the original, so you might need to hover your mouse over the title, to determine which is the original and which is the copy.
By clicking on the "Cut" button in step 6, the "Paste" button in step 9 will move the original content. No new content is created, so the workflow state of the original is maintained.
