On Tuesday, May 9th, 2006 the State Library hosted the first Iowa SirsiDynix Users Group meeting.  Sixty-three  librarians from a wide variety of libraries attended the conference.  They all had one thing in common, they use

SirsiDynix LIS systems in their libraries.

SirsiDynix representatives Bill Routt, Jim Wilson, and Pam Arnold were the featured speakers.  Their opening session was entitled Bringing Sirsi & Dynix ILS Systems Together: What it Means for You.  They also facilitated training sessions during the day on both Sirsi and Horizon products.  Additional breakout sessions were conducted by user panels offering tips and tricks for the two types of software.

Participants not only enjoyed the beautiful Ola Babcock Miller building, but they also had access to some of the top people at SirsiDynix for questions and updates on both Sirsi and Horizon software.

Plans are already being made for next year’s conference. The name suggested for the group is Prairie Land Users Group – Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska, or PLUG-IN. If you would like information about next year’s conference, please contact Monique McLay Shore, Systems Administrator, Stewart Library/City of Grinnell at monique@grinnelliowa.gov.
