Iowa Choices

All Iowa middle schools, high schools and colleges have access to Iowa Choices, the State of Iowa's career information and decision-making software program.  Iowa Choices is designed to equip education professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to assist students and parents with career exploration and information, as well as knowledge about educational and financing opportunities.  This product is available to schools through funding by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission (ICSAC) and the College Planning Center.

Even though public libraries do not have authorized access to this product, they can play an important role in encouraging students and parents to access this information.

In order to aid students and parents, staff at ICSAC encourage public library staff to cooperate with schools or colleges in their town to get access information.

Check with the school to see if they are using Iowa Choices.  It may be located in the media center or counselor's office.

After locating the school contact, emphasize that public library staff will encourage students and parents to use it.

ICSAC is advocating for public libraries take the role to support the product.  Ask the school to share the site id and password so you can refer it to students and parents.  Many facilities have printed cards with this information.

For more information about Iowa Choices or to get login information about a particular school, contact:

Megan Hogan 515-725-3423; 1-800-383-4222 megan.hogan@iowa.gov

If your library would like access to the Iowa Choices product for public use, you may order it through ICSAC for $600/year.
