Kids First 2001
The 2001 Kids First Conference was held April 19 and 20, 2001 at the INN on Merle Hay (Johnston, IA) with the theme, "Hand in Hand: Community Partnerships for Youth." Renee Vaillancourt, author of the 2000 edition of Bare Bones Services for Young Adults was the keynote speaker on Thursday, April 19. The keynote speaker Friday, April 20 was David K. Brown, Web master for the Children's Literature homepage. Approximately 147 librarians attended the conference. There were many breakout sessions and table talks. The Heartland Author's Conference followed immediately after the Kids First Conference on Thursday. The featured speaker was Laurie Lawlor, author of Addie's Dakota Winter, Addie's Long Summer, Daniel Boone, etc.
