Medical research: Introduction to PubMed
Do you need help finding medical journal article citations from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) databases? PubMed, the NLM's journal literature search system, is the gateway for searching MEDLINE and OLD MEDLINE. MEDLINE is the NLM's premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. MEDLINE contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 4,800 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 other countries. The database contains over 12 million citations dating back to the 1950's. Coverage is worldwide, but most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts.
This class is for those who have no experience or very limited experience in searching this database. It will introduce you to formulating search strategies using medical subject headings, viewing citations in different formats, and saving citations and search strategies.
