Search Exercises

Try searching the site using the following search strategies. Follow the directions and write down your answers to the questions.

 

  1. In the Search Box, type the word "hours"
    • Click on the Search button
    • How many items were returned?
  2. Clear the Search box
    • Click on the Search button
    • Click on the Advanced Search link
    • In the description field, type the word "town"
    • At the bottom of the page, click on the search button
    • What is the title of the page returned?
    • View the page by clicking on the title
  3. Click on the Search button
    • Click on the Advanced Search link
    • Scroll down to item type
    • Click the checkbox next to Select All/None
    • Click the checkbox next to Form Folder
    • At the bottom of the page, click the search button
    • How many forms did you find?
    • View each form by clicking on the title. Use the back button to return to the results list.
  4. Click on the "Do Research" tab
    • From the Navigation Portlet click on the "Subject Guides" link
    • From the Navigation Portlet click on "Iowa"
    • From the Navigation Portlet click on "History"
    • Write the Breadcrumb Trail here:
    • From the Breadcrumb Trail click on "Iowa"
    • From the Navigation Portlet click on "Agriculture"
  5. Click on the Site Map link
    • Click on the Library Board link
    • From the Navigation Portlet click on Library Trustees
  6. Use any search strategy to find the page titled, "Our Community"
    • When you have found the page wait for further instuctions.
