Searching FirstSearch Databases

Why not just use the Internet to find information? Most scholarly research needed for on-the-job decision making is published in journal articles and reports which are not available for free on the Internet.  FirstSearch gives you access to 39 databases which contain citations to materials in all areas of professional interest ranging from education and medicine to U.S. and world statistics and government documents. Many of the databases contain full text articles, reports, and pamphlets.

Learn how to navigate the databases and search for the information you need by using the powerful search options available in FirstSearch. State Library card holders may use FirstSearch databases from any Internet connection by using their card number to logon.

To arrange a class, please contact Barbara Corson at the State Library 515-281-4352 or 515-248-4483.
