Linda Robertson's Retirement from Law Library
Many on hand to wish her well.
Linda Robertson, head of the law library, State Library of Iowa, retired on December 14 with a farewell party attended by friends and colleagues.
Linda has been with the State Library 20 years this December and served 17 years as law librarian. Before that she was a school librarian (3 years) and a public librarian (15 years).
A slide presentation provided an overview of the years she has been at the State Library, complete with pictures of previous coworkers, photos and events from the Capital and a shot of her and Dan Rather when CBS used the law library a few years ago as its base for reporting on the Iowa Caucuses. Linda said it had been a great job and that she enjoyed the people she worked with, including legislative staff and lobbyists.
In a Certificate of Recognition, Governor Tom Vilsack noted that "Over the last 20 years, Linda has faithfully served as the Director of the State Law Library of Iowa. In that time, Linda weathered five caucuses, 19 legislative sessions, countless tourists and the wholesale migration from paper to digital legal resources. Linda's willingness to go the extra mile for lobbyists and inmates alike demonstrated her unwavering dedication to service. Her gregarious nature and well-stocked candy basket will surely be missed.
Linda plans to spend some time in Florida this winter, and hopes to eventually move there.
