Survey Process for FY 2002
To begin a new survey, the library clicked on New Survey then entered the name of the respondent as the login (user name). The password was the same for all schools and was available from the AEA.
Once data was entered and submitted (using the Submit Data button at the bottom of the form), it could be printed using the print function of the web browser. The School Name field must have been entered prior to first-time data submission.
Survey code number was displayed after the initial data submission.
To edit data, the library would click on "Search for a Survey," enter the log-in and password, the survey code number and the respondent name. To complete the process, the the library would then click "Submit Edited Survey" at the bottom of the form.
Previous Statewide Study Sponsored by the AEA Media Centers and the State Library
More than 500 school library media specialists responded to a School Library Media Center Survey which was conducted in 2001. This level of participation demonstrates that Iowa's school libraries are ready to participate in a full-scale data collection effort. The 2002 School Library Media Center Survey collected information about each building's library services and media program in 2001-2002. The survey was to be on the web in September, and was due Nov. 15, 2002.
Training for the School Library Media Center Survey was over the ICN from 3 to 5 p.m. on September 23 and September 30, 2002. Training consisted of an overview of the survey and section by section instructions.
