Beth Marie Remembered

Dale RossOnly a few times in our lives, it seems, are we fortunate enough to encounter people whose strength of character, whose wit, and whose gentle demeanor mark them as special.  And it took only a first brief encounter with Beth Marie for me to know that I had met such a human being.

My associations with her thereafter were usually all too brief, too perfunctory, too matter-of-fact. Yet even in the mundane give-and-take that characterized the library business that brought us together, her gentleness, her wry humor, her feel for the sensible thing--and always her quiet competence--gave those meetings a special quality.

Though her journey with us was much too short, those privileged to know and work with Beth Marie can count that experience among the very special blessings they will ever receive.
