The artwork of Azza Khalafallah

The artwork of Azza Khalafallah will be displayed at the State Library of Iowa during the month of February, 2012. The Library is located in the Miller Building at the corner of E. 12th St. and Grand Ave. The building is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Originally from the Sudan, Khalafallah lived in several different countries before coming to Des Moines. Khalafallah's works are oils and acrylic on canvas. Her subjects come from her heart.

She began painting at the age of 16 when she lived in Dubai with her family and she had her first gallery showing there. Her art represents cultural backgrounds from different countries and ethnicities that she has been exposed to.

This piece is Khalafallah 's first abstract work. She is working with a lot of new techniques from calligraphy to abstract.
