Iowa’s public library accreditation program has been in place 20 years. The library community has revised the PUBLIC LIBRARY MEASURES OF QUALITY three times to keep pace with the changes in the delivery of services. Iowa’s measures of quality have been used as the basis of similar programs developed by other states.

Iowa public libraries must meet certain standards to be eligible for the 3 Enrich Iowa tiers in order to qualify for Direct State Aid. Iowa’s public library accreditation program has been in place since 1986.

The Application and Report form for Accreditation must be submitted by 130 public libraries that need to renew accreditation and 150 public libraries that have not reported in the past 3 years.
