The State Library provides assistance to state employees, libraries, and the citizens of Iowa.
Library Support Network
The Library Support Network of the State Library is comprised of six district offices around the state and the Des Moines office. The Des Moines office consists of administrative offices in the Miller Building and the Law Library in the State Capitol building. Our library consultants and library resource technicians help librarians be the best information resources in their towns, as well as community partners as they help further their library's strategic plans and economic goals. Some State Library consultants specialize in particular areas such as continuing education, library statistics, technology, library services for kids, grant writing and more.
Specialized Library Services
Staff in the Law Library provide information services primarily to state government employees, people working in the legal profession and the citizens of Iowa through onsite collections, online databases, research capabilities and live chat where people can communicate directly with a librarian.
State Data Center
The State Data Center of Iowa is the source for population, housing, business and government statistics about Iowa, including data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Iowa state agencies, and other state and federal sources.
