ILA Conference Virtual Exhibit: What’s New at the State Library

The State Library will participate in the ILA Conference on October 15, 2020 as a virtual exhibitor. The “booth” will feature a video, information about the State Library, live chat, and a chance to speak with State Library staff in a Zoom meeting room during break times.

Watch the What’s New Video

The video highlights new initiatives and information for libraries, including:

IA Learns

The State Library recently unveiled IA Learns, the new, comprehensive learning management system that incorporates the CE Catalog, on-demand learning, and a user’s progress towards Endorsement renewals, all in one system! Certified directors and staff should have received an email to activate their account (contact your District LRT if you did not receive it); other users can create an account to view the catalog and register for courses. Visit IA Learns.

Bold 360 Chat Service

Bold 360 is a chat service that libraries can deploy on their website to give patrons another way to reach the library with questions or feedback. The service is available at no cost to libraries for two years and was paid for by CARES Act funds from IMLS. Find out more about Bold 360.

Save the Date: ILOC 2021

The Innovative Libraries Online Conference is a popular, one-day event of online learning for libraries. Mark your calendars: ILOC 2021 will take place Thursday, January 21, 2021. Watch for more information including theme announcement, call for proposals, keynotes, schedule and more on the ILOC webpage.

Virtual Meetings & Training

State Library staff are offering more ways to interact and consult virtually; District Consultants are meeting with libraries during virtual “office hours,” and Youth Services consultant Angie Manfredi hosts a monthly PopYS Pop-In chat session for youth librarians. Contact your District Consultant or Angie Manfredi for the next session date and Zoom link.

All Iowa Reads 2021 Announcement

The 2021 selections for the Adult, Teen, and Kids All Iowa Reads programs will be announced next month on Iowa Public Radio’s Talk of Iowa Program hosted by Charity Nebbe. Watch Library Talk and the Monday Morning Eye-Opener for the announcement date coming soon!

A Message to Iowa Librarians

The video closes with this message: “Librarians, you’re doing great! We know these are challenging times. We support you and are here for you. Please let us know what you need and how we can help.” Contact the State Library.
