Discounts for Libraries

Libraries can take advantage of discounts negotiated by the State Libraries and AEA Purchasing (Previously known as the Iowa Educators Consortium (IEC)), Lyrasis, and other vendors for supplies, books, videos, audio books, databases, and more.  

Technology Discounts

AEA Purchasing
AEA Purchasing is an independent, tax-exempt, nonprofit organization supporting the mission of the Iowa Area Education Agencies. Their goal is to combine the purchasing power of Iowa schools to offer aggressive pricing on materials, goods and services.

Tech Soup
The Tech Soup group offers highly discounted software and hardware along with other technology resources for non-profits with membership. Many libraries have reported huge discounts on software through this group. 

Library Supply Discounts

Lyrasis
The State Library is a member of Lyrasis.  LYRASIS is a non-profit membership organization committed to the success of libraries and cultural heritage organizations.  They provide discounts with many library supply vendors. 

AEA Purchasing
AEA Purchasing is an independent, tax-exempt, nonprofit organization supporting the mission of the Iowa Area Education Agencies. Their goal is to combine the purchasing power of Iowa schools to offer aggressive pricing on materials, goods and services. They have added a page just for library discounts. Check here.

State Contracts of Iowa; Department of Administrative Services (DAS) 
The State of Iowa has negotiated contracts for discounts for all state government groups and agencies across the state. Public libraries can take advantage of these discounts.  Check under State Contracts at left for a listing of their current discounts on everything from janitorial supplies and computers to desk chairs and automobiles. 

NOTE:  That because libraries are governmental subdivision DAS recommends that you contact this person below especially if you want to have a government account with Office Depot and Staples:

AWE Early Literacy Stations  
These literacy stations for kids are wildly popular through the state. AWE provides stand alone pre-assembled computer terminals ready for computer literacy interactions with your younger patrons.
